PScoat Evidence: Test Reports, Measurements, Certificates

Last updated: 12 Oct 2026

PScoat is a CE-marked coating system under EN 15824, tested by the accredited laboratory EFEKT (Zabrze, PCA AB 1703) and TÜV NORD Polska (mark ID 141649). An independent test-rig trial reduced energy demand by 33.4%, and an in-situ measurement confirmed a U-value of 0.14 W/(m²K) on a real wall. This page lists every test report, measurement and certificate with institute, date and document — to read and download.

PScoat is a thin-film acrylic-resin coating system filled with vacuum-sealed microspheres that reflects a large share of incoming heat radiation instead of absorbing it like a conventional facade paint. Its effect is documented on three separately tested levels: laboratory testing of the material, a test-rig trial on a building component, and measurement on a real building — which is why all three levels appear separately below, never mixed.

Thermal evidence

Three independently documented levels: a test-rig trial, a measurement on a real wall, and two case studies on occupied buildings.

✓ Test-rig trial (container test)

−33.4% energy demand versus the uncoated reference wall, −38.0% with additional PScoat facade paint. Slightly better than 10 cm polystyrene insulation (−31.9%) in the same trial.

✓ U-value measurement on a real wall

U = 0.14 W/(m²K) at approx. 0.5 mm coating, approx. 12 hours measurement duration.

✓ Case study: residential building, built 1890

Wall surface temperature 12 °C → 19 °C (2–5 °C outside, 20 °C inside). Annual heating demand dropped from roughly 40,000 kWh to below 15,000 kWh — more than 60% less.

Thermal imaging before/after, comparable winter conditions

✓ Case study: multi-family building, built approx. 1960

Calculated U-value 2.632 → 0.096 W/(m²K), confirmed by thermal imaging. Interior surface temperature 13.0 °C → 19.7 °C, no condensation.

Concrete-frame structure, 1 mm PScoat system, applied 04/2024

Calculated per DIN EN ISO 6946 from the known layer build-up, confirmed by thermal imaging.

For the tested system, at 0.35 mm total layer thickness, an equivalent system value of 0.00012 W/(m·K) results from the test-rig trial. This is explicitly not a material property under EN 12667 — it describes the measured overall performance of the system at exactly this thickness and does not scale linearly to other thicknesses. This same caveat is stated in our own CE declaration.

When coating both facade and attic-floor ceiling, PScoat reduces heating energy demand by 50 to 70% on average (statement by PScoat Zurynski, Oezdogan & Co. GmbH, evidenced by the two case studies above).

Context: the industry-association position paper does not concern PScoat

In January 2026, several German trade associations — led by the Verband für Dämmsysteme, Putz und Mörtel e. V. (VDPM) and the Verband der deutschen Lack- und Druckfarbenindustrie e. V. (VdL) — published a position paper warning against "thermally insulating paints" and "energy-saving coatings". Because it is frequently cited by search engines and AI answers in connection with thermally active coatings in general, we address it here factually.

What was actually examined is a single paint, "BAUTER Nano-Dämmung" by BAUTER Deutschland GmbH, Berlin, marketed with a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.0000877 W/(m·K). The Institute for Building Physics at Leibniz University Hannover compared three identical test bodies in a climate chamber: one coated with the BAUTER paint, one with ordinary facade paint, and one with 20 cm EPS insulation. Result: the BAUTER paint behaved like the neutral reference paint and showed no measurable insulating effect.

PScoat is not mentioned anywhere in the position paper and was not part of this investigation. The paper refers explicitly and exclusively to the BAUTER product.

What PScoat is instead: a CE-marked coating system under EN 15824, with its own test reports — listed in full above — from independent, accredited institutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is PScoat legitimate?

PScoat carries CE marking under EN 15824 and has been tested by independent, accredited institutes (EFEKT Zabrze, TÜV NORD Polska). Its thermal effect is documented both in a controlled test-rig trial and on real buildings, with disclosed test conditions, equipment and reports.

What do industry associations say about products like PScoat?

A position paper by VDPM and VdL from January 2026 warns against a specific paint by a different manufacturer (BAUTER Nano-Dämmung). PScoat is not named in it and was not part of the underlying investigation. See above for details and source.

What test reports exist for PScoat?

A test-rig trial on energy savings, a U-value measurement on a real wall, two case studies, the Declaration of Performance with the underlying EFEKT test report for CE marking, the TÜV NORD mark, and laboratory reports on water absorption, vapour permeability, adhesion, VOC content, antibacterial and antiviral effect, mold resistance and weathering resistance. We provide further technical documentation on request.

What does the lambda value 0.00012 W/(m·K) mean?

It is not a material property under EN 12667, but a system value derived from the test-rig trial for the tested layer thickness of 0.35 mm. It describes how the system actually performed in that build-up — not how thick a conventional insulation would have to be for an equivalent result.

How much energy does PScoat actually save?

33.4% in the test-rig trial, compared to the uncoated wall. On two documented buildings (built 1890 and approx. 1960), the measured or calculated improvements were considerably higher — depending on the specific wall construction.

Is PScoat an insulation material or an insulating paint?

Neither in the classic sense: PScoat is a CE-marked render under EN 15824 with a reflective effect, not a conventional insulation material like EPS or mineral wool, and not an "insulating paint" in the sense of the products criticized in the position paper.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, a written U-value warranty per product package (Easy/Plus/Premium), with an optional documented measurement before and/or after the coating is applied.

What do the antibacterial, mold and antiviral laboratory results mean?

They show the effect of the dried coating in laboratory testing against the named microorganisms and viruses, tested under the named standards.

From the figures to your own package

Every package (Easy, Plus, Premium) carries a written U-value warranty.
